Safety alerts: Guthega Road - changed speed limit due to road worksThe speed limit on Guthega Road has been reduced to 60km for the entirety of the road. This is due to road works taking place from 8 April to 31 October 2024, and an increase in heavy and light vehicle movements.
Please abide by all traffic control signage and observe all directions from NPWS staff and contractors.
Your destination is still accessible. To assist in planning your journey safely, please allow extra time in your travel plans and drive to conditions.

Closed areas: Thredbo Valley track closureThe entire Thredbo Valley Track from Thredbo Village to Gaden Trout Hatchery is closed to all cyclists from 5th of June 2024 to the 7th of October 2024.
Maintenance works are underway between Thredbo Resort and Ngarigo Campground. As such, this section is closed to all visitors.
Walkers are still permitted on the track from Ngarigo Campground to Gaden Trout Hatchery.

Closed areas: Areas closed for aerial pest control operationThe NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting aerial shooting operations in Kosciuszko National Park (KNP). The operation requires closure of the Jagungal Wilderness Area, Eucumbene and Snowy Plain between 11th June and 21st June 2024. The area of the park will be closed to enable aerial shooting to take place. Closure notices will be placed at relevant access points in Kosciuszko National Park. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
Access will be retained to the Australian Alps Walking Track (AAWT), only as described below:
- Valentine Trail, Grey Mare Trail (between Valentine Trail and Doubtful Gap Trail), and Schlink Pass Road will remain open
- Grey Mare Trail will be closed between Happy Jack Road and Doubtful Gap Trail (access to the AAWT can be access via Happy Jack Rd and Doubtful Gap Trail)
- Trail users must stay on the trails at all times
The following trails and campground in Jagungal Wilderness Areas will be closed.

- Kings Cross Road, between Mt Selwyn and Cabramurra - CLOSED
- Black Jack Trail - CLOSED
- Manjar Trail - CLOSED
- Grassy Flats Trail - CLOSED
- Murray Gates Trail - CLOSED

Closed areas: Thermal Pool closure for construction worksThe Thermal Pool, Yarrangobilly Caves Visitor Precinct will be closed for construction works from Monday 27 May to Friday 7 June and Tuesday 11 June to Friday 21 June 2024. The pool will be open for the June long weekend, Saturday 8 June to Monday 10 June.

Other planned events: Thermal Pool area construction worksConstruction works will be occurring at the Thermal Pool area, Yarrangobilly Caves from Monday 6 May to Friday 21 June 2024. There may be short delays when accessing the Thermal Pool area, and areas surrounding the pool may be restricted to the public while construction of visitor facilities occurs. Follow the directions of construction signs, NPWS staff and contractors.

Closed areas: Sections of Kosciuszko National Park closed for feral animal controlThe NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting aerial shooting operations in Kosciuszko National Park (KNP). Horses, deer, pigs and other feral animals will be targeted. The operations require the closure of the area of KNP north of the Snowy Mountains Highway and east of the Goobarragandra Powerline Road to the KNP boundary between Thursday 4 April 2024 and Friday 4 October 2024 inclusive (this includes the usual winter closure period from 10 June to 4 October, 2024).
All tracks, trails, campgrounds, huts, picnic areas and accommodation nodes within the closure area will be closed during this period, including:
- Bullocks Hill campground
- Cooinbil Hut campground
- Cooinbil Hut Horse Camp
- Ghost Gully campground
- Long Plain Hut campground
- Magpie Flat campground
- Old Snowy campground
- Perkins Flat campground
- Rocky Plain campground

Other planned events: Notice of ongoing 1080 programA baiting program using meat baits and canid pest ejectors containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison will be conducted from Friday 22 March 2024 until Sunday 22 September 2024 in Kosciuszko National Park.
The program will be conducted in the northern precinct of the park, which includes the following areas:
- Goobarragandra
- Blowering foreshores
- Big Talbingo/ Buddong
Entry into baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. Other planned events: Notice of 1080 ongoing programThe NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a baiting program using baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. The program will be continuous and ongoing between Friday 9 February 2024 and Friday 9 August 2024. These programs are part of an integrated pest animal control strategy, aimed at minimising the impacts of these animals on neighbouring stock.
Baiting programs will be conducted in Thredbo/Ingebyra, Dalgety/Paupong and Corrowong/Tombong/Merriangaah Wild Dog Plan Areas. Baiting programs will also be undertaken in Paupong, Merriangaah and Quidong Nature Reserves.
This includes the following sections of Kosciuszko National Park:
- Thredbo Valley
- Moonbah
- Ingebyra
- Paupong
- Numbla Vale
- Corrowong
All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.

Closed areas: No parking at Porcupine track/Snowies Alpine walk track headSections of Porcupine Road are closed for construction works until June 2024 with access for locals and pedestrians only. There is no parking at the track head of Porcupine track and the Snowies Alpine walk for the duration of this closure. Walkers will need to park in Perisher Valley carpark and walk to the track head from there.
Safety alerts: Powerline out of service in Jagungal Wilderness AreaHappy Jacks Plain and sections of the Jagungal Wilderness Area are affected by powerline damage. The 11kva powerline that runs through these areas was damaged during the 2019/2020 fires with burnt poles and downed powerlines. It is out of service and will be removed from the park. Please keep a safe distance from any broken wires on the ground and broken stay wires from power poles.

Closed areas: Tantangara Reservoir partial closureSome parts of Tantangara Reservoir will be closed intermittently until further notice for Snowy 2.0 construction activities involving controlled blasts. Full exclusion zones will be established prior to and during blast operations. The closed areas are:
- Areas of Tantangara Reservoir adjacent to the Snowy 2.0 construction site.
- Tantangara Reservoir boat ramp, adjacent to the Tantangara Dam wall.
- For up-to-date timings on controlled blasts please see notifications on the Future Generation website.

Road/trail closures
The following roads and trails are closed until further notice:

Fire-affected areas
Some sections of Kosciuszko National Park which burnt during the 2019/2020 fires remain closed. These areas include:
- Wolgal and Pattinson's Huts
Huts that burnt down in the 2020 fires
These locations remain open, but the following huts or buildings have been lost:
- Bradley/O'Brien's Hut, Brooks Hut, 4 Mile Hut, Happy's Hut, Harvey's Hut (under repair), Linesman's No.3 Huts, Round Mountain Hut, Vickery's Hut (under repair), and Dry Dam Ski Shelter.
- Warning: Please take care as there may be broken glass/nails that are uncovered since NPWS made records and cleaned up these sites. Please do not disturb the sites or remove artefacts.
Snowy 2.0 works affecting access to Tantangara Road and Tantangara Dam
- Access to the southern end of Tantangara Reservoir via Quarry trail is closed to the public.
- Access to the southern end boat ramp is open, but may be subject to short-term closures.
- Current boating and camping access to Tantangara Reservoir will still be available at access points on the northern end of the reservoir, via Port Phillip and Dam trails.
Do not enter closed areas in Kosciuszko National Park.

Closed areas: Closed areas due to Snowy 2.0 worksThe following areas are closed due to the Snowy 2.0 works from Monday 25 February 2019 until early 2027, unless the closure is extended or removed:

Other planned events: Ongoing increased traffic and roadworksThere is an increase in heavy and light vehicle movements on the Snowy Mountains Highway (between Cooma to Tumut) and Link and Tantangara Roads within Kosciuszko National Park. This traffic will continue for a number of years and involves the use of specialised heavy vehicle combinations for transporting materials associated with the Snowy 2.0 project and other projects in the region.
There will also be ongoing maintenance and upgrades to roads in the area as part of the project, particularly along Link and Tantangara Roads.
